Dear [ADD NAME OF YOUR FOREIGN MINISTER],
Re: Tibetan Political Prisoner, Runggye Adak. Serious Medical Health Concerns

I am writing to you today as I am deeply concerned about the detention and health of Runggye Adak [Chinese: 荣杰阿扎 Rongjie Azha] a Tibetan nomad who has is in the seventh year of an eight year prison sentence for expressing his freedom of opinion.

On 1 August 2007, during the famous Lithang Horse Racing Festival, Runggye Adak made a public call for the return of the Dalai Lama to Tibet. In taking this simple act Runggye Adak was arrested and detained along with numerous others including his nephew Adak Lopoe [Ch: 阿珠禄波, Azhu Lubo] and Jamyang Kunkhyen [Ch: 江央贡臣, Jiangyang Gongchen], who are also serving prison sentences for informing the media about Runggye Adak’s courageous speech

The fact that Ruggye Adak’s speech was considered a crime diminishes China’s standing in the world and proves that China does not respect the constitutional right of individuals to enjoy freedom of speech

I urge you to press China to release Runggye Adak, whose health is seriously waning due to the harsh conditions that he has had to endure. I also urge that you appeal to the authorities for a right to visit Runggye Adak while he is still in prison to assess the situation of his detention and ensure he receives adequate medical attention that he requires

Yours Sincerely
